News update – *Fight card changes*
Sian Blackburn will now fight Claire Clements!
Since we last released a fight there has been a couple of changes to the fight card which we are looking to update you all on now. Due to unforeseen circumstances and medical reasons Claire Clement’s opponent Ralista Andreeva has had to withdraw from Battle of the North and she has been replaced by Sian Blackburn of Aberdeen Muay Thai. Sian is another exciting prospect from Aberdeen Muay Thai, one of which is definitely a worthy opponent for Claire.
Dom had chance to have a catch up with Sian…
Dom: How has training been?
Sian: “Training has been interesting because I’m in Aberdeen for uni so after my last fight I moved home to live with my parents in the south of Scotland so I was training at a few different gyms mainly dragons gym Dumfries and Langholm Phoenix. And I’ve came back to Aberdeen over the last few weeks to be with AMT and Ronnie because I know the training suits my style and it’s what’s best for me for my training.”
Dom: Do you know anything about Claire/ Are you working on particular things for her?
Sian: “I watched Claire fight last year against my teammate rali.I have the upmost respect for her she’s a solid fighter and I think it’s gonna be a good fight to watch. I’ve not been working on too much set stuff. Anyone can learn new things between fights so she could have changed from what I have seen. I’ve just been trying to work on improving my own game and developing as a fighter.”
Dom: You excited to be fighting on battle of the North?
Sian: “Being on the Battle of the North will be a great opportunity to prove myself as a game female fighter win or loose. I’m hoping it will open the opportunity for us to fight down in England as a gym as the girls up here struggle for good opponents. It will also be nice to fight on the same card as a few fighters that I know.”
Sian is definitely a fantastic replacement for Claire and both of these lasses will have to give their everything to try and get the win. Both are well-schooled girls and will definitely be a fantastic display of Muay Thai.
Luis Sant’Anna Leite will now fight Chris Thirkell
Matthew van Leirop has withdrawn from Battle of the North due to personal reasons and will no longer fight Chris Thirkell. We have managed to score a brilliant replacement for Chris, his opponent will now be Luis Sant’Anna Leite from Portugal. Our first international bout on Battle of the North. Chris is making his K1 debut and what better way to make it than to take on an international opponent.
Luis comes out of the KO Gym in Portugal and if his team mates are anything to go by then this guy will be an incredible watch! He trains at the same gym as Fred Cordeiro who recently came to Newcastle and make his name known with an amazing knockout, maybe Luis can bring something similar?
We welcome Luis to our shores and wish him the best of luck in his upcoming bout and thank him for coming in on short notice!
New Victory Promotions logo
I am pleased to announce that Victory Promotions now has a shiny new logo that we can release to all of the fans. A new logo and been in the making for a little while now and we are excited to bring this one to the table. It is a lot more professional than the one we have at the moment and is much more visually punchy!
We hope you like it and you will be seeing a little more of it floating around on the various social media accounts that we hold. Remember to head over to our Facebook, twitter and YouTube accounts to keep up to date with what we are up to.
We will be releasing the full fight card within the next few days and then the event will be upon us next week! I can’t believe how quickly it is coming around. We at VP are so excited for it and look forward to bringing a night of Muay Thai and K1 action to Newcastle for everyone to enjoy and for the fighters to showcase their talents!
